Nail prep tips - make your mani last!

We know how frustrating it can be when your fresh manicure chips too soon. That’s why we’re sharing five simple tips to help your mani stay flawless for longer!

1. Prep Your Nails Properly - Start by filing your nails into a smooth shape and lightly buffing the surface. This helps polish adhere better! Before applying polish, make sure your nails are free of any oils, debris or fragrance by wiping them with nail polish remover or rubbing alcohol.

2. Avoid Your Cuticles - When polish covers the cuticles, it can cause lifting and premature chipping as the polish doesn’t properly adhere to the nail. For best results, use a clean-up brush dipped in acetone to keep the edges neat and your manicure long-lasting!

3. Use a Quality Base Coat - A good base coat creates a smooth foundation for your polish, improves adhesion, and helps prevent staining. Look for a base coat with strengthening or adhesive properties for extra durability.

4. Apply Thin, Even Coats - Thick layers take longer to dry and are more prone to chipping. Instead, apply polish in thin layers, allowing each coat to dry fully before adding the next.

5. Use a Long-Lasting Quick Dry Top Coat - A durable top coat not only adds shine but also protects your polish from wear and tear. A quick-dry top coat will help seal in your manicure and get you on your way faster!

6. Avoid Getting Wet - Soaking your nails in water for long periods (like dishwashing or hot showers) can cause them to expand and contract, leading to chipping. Wearing gloves while doing chores can help extend your manicure!
